-CARTA A PABLO ALFONSO

Estimado amigo Pablo:

-COMMITTEE TO AID HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVISTS

P.O. Box 5072, North Bergen, NJ 07047

Tel (201) 868-1310.

October 8, 2004

The R.T. Honorable Perry G. Christie, Prime Minister of The Bahamas

The Honorable Ruud Lubers, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

The Honorable Louis Arbour, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

The Honorable Janice Marshall, UNHCR, Senior Regional Protection Officer for the Caribbean

Mr. Santiago Canton, Secretary Excecutive of the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights

Esteemed Honorable Officials:

The Committee to Aid Human Rights Activists (CAHRA) a non-profit organization based in New Jersey, the United States of America, respectfully urges you to intercede on behalf of the refugees who are being held at the Nassau Refugee Detention Center in The Bahamas. Several days ago, a commission of our organization visited said refugee center. We were appalled at the brutally inhumane treatment these refu-gees are receiving. The first impression we had was that the locale looked like a concentration camp. We arrived on visitation day, September 28, 2004. When we asked where the visitation quarters were, we were told: ?Over there.? The visitation area is a pigsty of weeds surrounded by wire double fences which separate the visitors from their relatives. The visitors are not able to embrace members of their own families. The space between these fences is so great that everyone has to shout, and often one cannot understand what is being said. The whole situation is pitiful.

-OBP: LETTER TO MR. CARTER
May 2, 2003

Jimmy Carter
The Carter Center
453 Freedom Parkway
Atlanta, GA 30307

Mr. Carter:
I had the occasion of writing to you twice during the past year. First letter - dated March 31 2002 - attempted to dissuade you from traveling to visit the Cuban dictator Castro. At the time, I pointed out the failure of the misguided Papal visit in 1998 to facilitate democratic changes or foster an improvement in the sordid human rights record of the Castro regime. You answered "You're completely confused."

By: Cuban Democratic Directorate

March 12, 2003

First Message

Brothers and sisters of the internal Cuban resistance:

Today we would like to address you – those of you who have decided to live according to your values, to live in truth, assuming the high price that this totalitarian regime imposes on those who dare to dream.

-EL SIGNO DE VARELA, LA VERDAD NO ESTA ENCADENADA.
OSWALDO PAYA

-LETTER TO MR. PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH FROM ILEANA ROS-LEHTINEN

January 23, 2003
The Honorable George W. Bush
President of the United States
The White House
Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear Mr. President:

You recently made a determination to invoke both waivers of Title III of the Cuban Liberty and Democratic Solidarity (LIBERTAD) Act - otherwise known as Helms-Burton. As you know, according to the law, the waiver carries a dual threshold which requires that the waiver is in the national interest of the United States and that it helps promote democratic change in Cuba.

-LETTER TO MR. SPIELBERG

November 12, 2002

Dear Mr. Spielberg,

My name is Nicolás Calzada. I am a first-year graduate film student at New York University. For as long as I can remember I have been a great admirer of your work. I believe that film, like all art, is about more than telling a story. It is about enriching, fulfilling, and inspiring its viewers with moments of beauty. It is about those rare moments in time when...

In a rational world this riddle would be ruled out of order as asinine and impossible. Alas, in this world the riddle flies. Here goes. What country with an ideal climate, arable land, good work force, no drought, no flood, and
no war has FOOD RATIONING?

Re: Family reunification.

Black Saturday, April 22, 2000, is now part of American history. It is the day that armed federal marshals stormed into an unarmed home without presenting a search warrant and terrorized an innocent six year old child and his family at 5 o'clock in the morning.

-The "Former" Soviet Bloc
by Robert W. Lee

Communism, we were told, collapsed throughout Eastern Europe and the old Soviet Union beginning in 1989. "Democracy," we were told, was in the wind and "reform" was everywhere. Consider the former Soviet republic of Turkmenistan, where there have been two presidential elections, a parliamentary election, a national referendum, and where a former American Secretary of State now advises President Saparmurad Niyazov, who led his country to independence in 1991. Encouraging indeed -- until we learn the rest of the story.
