The
echo of other voices
For almost five decades, the Caribbean island has had only one opinion, only
one right, only one will and only one mind to take decisions in the country
but this has not happened just for the people's united desire, but for the
fantasies, madness, hallucinations, manias, utopias, cruelty, egocentrism
and ambitions of a pervert man. Only one voice has been heard for 46 years
amidst the injustice of millions of closed mouths wishful to express their
existence. Cuba has had the "honor" of having a commander in chief, owner
and master of the island, who has grown old in the power, having lived his
life at the expenses of a divided, mute, frustrated and chained people,
electing himself in the weirdest elections of the world, in which the people
cannot directly vote for him and in which there is no other political party
than his, not because his system is a paradise of perfection, but on the
contrary, for its devilish features, since those who would dare propose
alternatives, would not live long to tell the story because the tyrant very
well knows that if he yielded an inch or made any type of opening, he could
be overthrown.
For these reasons, the Cuban people have been trained and tamed to obey and
shut their mouths without any right for claims or complaints, nor to a
slightly different point of view from that of the master and so the country
has become a huge island of parrots where only repeating what the system
programs, orients and commands to be said is allowed, with the danger of
retaliation of all kinds which include harassment, threat, social isolation,
job loss, imprisonment, torture or death, under the immense displeasure,
unhappiness, despair, hunger, misery, sadness and suffering of a people who
wish to scream what is mandated to keep in silence and who also desire to
know the meaning of the word democracy, erased from Cuban dictionaries since
1959.
Throughout all these years, there have been anonymous valiant Cubans who
have dared to defy mister Castro and have had to pay for it with a ruthless
and stormy prison or with a mysterious physical disappearance, but the smart
and skillful dictator, genius of evil, has made the world believe these men
do not exist, attempting to demonstrate he has no opposition because there
are no reasons for it and that he is still in the power because Cubans want
it so. The very Cuban people do not even know that these organizations and
men exist due to the disinformation in which the regime is a specialist,
apart from the fact that the island is a cave of spies with a trained
machinery paid by the executioner that preserves that gag and where everyone
is afraid of everybody. Besides, the boss, expert in the game of keeping the
power at all cost, and he indeed lives for that purpose, has known how to
neutralize and give a cyclic release to the "pressure cooker" whenever it
has needed to let its steam out and in this way, by means of different
exoduses, has been able to send to exile many opponents who would have been
more useful inside the island.
However, and after wanting to "hide the sun with one finger" for so many
years, in a year 2005 that promises good signs of justice and the long
expected punishment of the dictator, the latter will not be able to avoid
all of these independent opposing organizations, for so long blinded,
cornered, persecuted, harassed, discredited, blackmailed, silenced and
denied to open a hole on the wall and to finally stride forward to clear the
curtain of smoke of the system, gathering officially for the first time as a
unique opposing front that will have to be recognized by the tyrant and at
the same time by the whole world in May 2005 in the Assembly to Promote
Civil Society in Cuba.
365 organizations from civil society, that maintain a really independent
line and so they can be named as non governmental organizations and are
entities that even though they have requested their official recognition,
have not obtained it from the government, have courageously decided to carry
out this congress to unite, organize, introduce themselves in public and
challenge the dictator face to face for the first time in order to outstand
the dignity of people who have had their hands tied for too long and that
have at times seen their valuable roots, heirs of Antonio Maceo, Maximo
Gomez, Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, Ignacio Agramonte, Jose Marti and Calixto
Garcia among other brave patriots, idle and dormant.
Therefore, and in the name of justice and liberty, Cubans who respect
themselves and who love their homeland and its freedom, anywhere in the
world they may be, must support, make this event public and be on the watch
for any possible and likely retaliation against it in order to condemn them
and to request world consensus in this important manifestation to unmask the
dictator, which is going to promote a wake up call for action among the
slave people inside the island, the active cooperation of more than a
million Cubans in exile spread all over the planet and the start of real,
effective and concrete international pressures against the tyranny, that
will herald the beginning of the end of the brutal dictatorship in the
island.
