Allied with the devil?
It seems that for some countries of
the world it has not been enough to witness that only one man has been
ruling the largest of the Caribbean islands for almost half a century
without elections; it has not been sufficient for them either to read in the
news or to watch on TV that thousands have left that very island in rafts or
have even drowned in the sea. Have they wondered why many should prefer to
die in the sea rather than stay in their own homeland? This is very strange
indeed. It has not been effective or instructive for them to learn that
international human rights organizations are constantly condemning the
government's policy of having numberless political prisoners rot in Cuban
jails without the necessary conditions and besides sentenced in unfair
trials and just for asking for their rights.
It also looks as if they have not heard the
unanimous claim and testimony of those who tell the truth after they have
escaped alive from that hell and describe the everyday incredible misery,
scarcity and political harassment and repression existing in Cuba. Have they
ever been acquainted with the limitations and restraints Cubans have in all
spheres or life and the strict control exerted upon them by the government?
Has anyone ever told them of all the religious prejudices and prohibitions
that prevail in the island? Do they still believe, if they ever did, that
country's leader is in quest of a right cause and is a fair person? Do they
think that families can run away with kids and elderly just for the sake of
adventure? Isn't it time they wondered there is something going wrong that
makes all this happen?
But, disgrace, punishment and misfortune come together and Cubans are again
and again cheated and beaten for some mysterious fate and the bad one is
able to keep deceiving with his dirty propaganda and still sleeps well, in a
great offense to those whose pain is exposed to the world and are sadly
ignored. For the authorities in Bahamas, so close to Cuba that the cries of
freedom and the complaints for a decent life of its inhabitants may be heard
across the sea, the recent actions of abusing and mistreating 48 Cubans who
arrived to their coasts looking for salvation is a serious crime which could
only be justified with the unbelievable reason that they also work for the
Cuban dictator or have an agreement with him, but if they could peep through
a little hole what is going on in the island, they would kneel asking God
and those they have abused to forgive them and they would realize they had
made a deal and an alliance with the devil.
