Review: October 10th is an important date in Cuba’s history
because in 1868 Carlos Manuel de Céspedes from his sugar mill - La
Demajagua- encouraged all cubans to take up arms the Spanish. Thereby
marking the beginning of the 10 year war. To commemorate this date,
Villareal Acosta wrote a letter from prison this year and sent it to
other dissidents in the province of Las Villas. Villareal Acosta
expressed his desire for all of Castro’s opponents to unite and come to
an understanding so that Castro’s regime may be terminated.
Villareal Acosta is 55 years old and suffers from illnesses of his
nervous and circulatory systems.
Villareal Acosta is a member of the committee Gestor del Proyecto Varela
in Cuba’s central provinces.
