Santiago de Cuba Review: Ricardo Silva Gual has confronted the cuban government since he was a young man in Cuba’s western most province of Oriente. His long struggle to bring human and civil rights to his countrymen has led the authorities to arrest him several times. Ricardo Silva Gual has been the victim of repeated abuses by prison guards. Recently Ricardo Silva Gual declared a hunger strike to protest his and other political prisoners treatment in prison. The government officials have transferred him to a maximum security section within the Boniato prison called Boniatito, where the conditions are even more horrific than the main prison. Regardless, of what Castro’s henchmen have done to him,- Ricardo Silva Gual maintains his determination and continues to do whatever he can from inside Cuba’s dungeons to bring the most essential rights every citizen of Cuba deserves .
