Review: One of the charges for which González Alfonso was sentenced
was for alledgely violating Law #88 of 1999. This law is commonly known
as the ‘muzzle law’. Journalistic activities in communist Cuba are
strongly persecuted and reprimanded by the government. González Alfonso
reports have been published by many print media entities including Free
Cuba, Cubanet, Revista Hispano –Cubana. He has also appeared on Radio
Martí dennouncing the daily struggles cuban citizens suffer at the hand
of Castro’s government. In August González Alfonso was hospitalizad in
Camagüey because of hepatitis. His family is very concerned about his
health condition and the manner in which the authorities treat him and
other political prisoners in Cuba.
