Review: Delio Resquejo Rodríguez was arrested at the Ciego de
Avila Hospital. He was attending a protest organized by Juan Carlos
González Leyva. The reason for the peaceful protest was to call
attention to the case of another member of the opposition who Castro’s
political police had beaten and required medical attention.
The opposition group gathered in front of the hospital and sat down with
their arms interlocked. The action was a demonstration of solidarity
with a fellow opposition member and a strong statement of public
defiance against the governmental authorities.
Ever since this fateful day González Leyva (who is blind), Resquejo
Rodríguez and various others have been in prison awaiting justice from a
judicial system that is corrupt, arbitrary and a pawn of Fidel Castro
and his gang of henchmen.
The health of Resquejo Rodríguez is precarious and worrisome, especially
for his wife, Edubina Dámaso González, who has frequently denounced it.
