Review: The Castro regime resorts to all types of cunning schemes
including the placement of prisoners of conscience within the general
prison population made up of criminals and other common prisoners. The
government’s purpose is to destabilize the political prisoner
emotionally. This practice also places the political prisoner in danger
from the members of the general population,- who try to gain favors from
their captors by physically abusing the prisoners of conscience. Labrada
Peña is enduring such situation which has driven him to attempt to take
his own life due to his inability to do anything to improve his living
conditions in prison. The prison authorities refuse to transfer him to a
cell block where he may find safety.
