Review: According to Fidel Castro and his regime Cuba is a
“paradise for workers”, yet Pedro Pablo Alvarez Ramos who is an
independent labor union leader is in prison. Alvarez Ramos has been
engaged in opposing the government since 1994. The Consejo Unitario de
Trabajadores Cubano (a labor union), which he is a member of has been
advocating for better labor conditions for the cuban workers. His
efforts have been recognized by the Central Latinoamericana de
Trabajadores (CLAT) when this Central American labor union granted
Alvarez Ramos membership. Alvarez Ramos suffers from glaucoma and other
illnesses which are going without medical treatment while he remains
incarcerated.
