Camagüey Review: Mario Enrique Mayo Hernández and his wife, Maidelín are independent journalists. Mario Enrique is also an attorney and has been a journalists since the year 2000 when he founded the Felix Varela Press Agency. Mario Enrique Mayo Hernández has undergone surgery and suffers from a circulatory trauma which causes him to experience severe headaches. The prison staff does not allow him to receive the proper medical attention he needs and does not deliver the medicines his family sends him. The political ‘re-educator’ assigned to Mario Enrique Mayo Hernández has said that Mario cannot be ‘promoted’ to a minimum security facility because he has not made ‘any progress’ in his political attitude.
