Review: Julio Cesar has maintained his stance against the Cuban government’s tyranny for many years. In several occasions the authorities in charge of indoctrination have physically abused him for not following their orders. Among others, the orders called for him to shout government slogans in public such as, ‘Viva Fidel’. Julio Cesar would always shout the opposite of whatever the government slogan signified.

In 1997, Julio Cesar was sentenced to an additional 3 years of imprisonment for writing anti-government slogans on his cell walls.

Julio Cesar was in solitary confinement in Kilo 8, a maximum security prison, for 3 years. During that period, he was the subject of physical and psychological punishment.

Julio Cesar was finally moved to a prison located in his hometown. He has been serving his sentences with the general prisoner population, which is made up of common criminals. He has continued to be the subject of further abuses by the authorities and by other common prisoners who act with the consent of the authorities.

Regardless of the forewarnings he and his family members gave to the authorities, Julio Cesar was drugged and sexually violated in December 2002.

Julio Cesar’s health condition is deteriorating rapidly due to all the abuse he has received for years in Castro’s prisons.

His weakened physical and mental state, make Julio Cesar Morales Gonzalez, a Cuban political prisoner who should be the subject of an international campaign asking for his immediate release.
