Review: Díaz Sánchez is a practicing catholic and a member of a
fraternal lodge. He participated in the gathering of signatures for the
Varela Project which were delivered to the Cuban National Assembly. In
one of his letters Díaz Sánchez wrote “operatives of the political
police forced themselves into my house. They terrorized my daughters and
ransacked my personal library”. Although, the positions taken by Díaz
Sánchez are considered by many not to be radical or extreme in any way,
the cuban government does not allow dissenting opinions to be expressed
and least of all by members of the opposition.
