Prisoners forced
to talk about discipline in prison
RANCHUELO, CUBA - March 31 (Felix Gutierrez Reyes / Puenteinfocubamiami.org)
– A couple of guards of the Agüica prison in Matanzas forced around 70
prisoners to have a conversation on discipline last March 26.
Lieutenant re educator Roberto Espinosa, along with another lieutenant
that goes by the name of Marys, disrupted scheduled “yard” time for
prisoners of detachment #4 and forced the inmates to sit on a dirty
cement floor for a lecture on how to behave inside the above mentioned
prison.
The political prisoner Alexander Garcia Lima responded to the officers
that it would be better to discuss the food they were serving in the
prison, the lack of hygiene in the cubicles they were forced to live in
or the prison’s lack of medical care.
Lieutenant Espinosa replied that they had nothing to do with that and to
be quiet and decided to end the conversation. And in regards to Garcia
Lima’s health issues, the officers told him that
there was no anesthesia in jail to tend to his health issues.
