Movement of the Pacific
Opposition honors Cuban Women.

SANTA CLARA, CUBA - March 17 (Guillermo Farinas

- More than fifty peaceful opponents participated in an activity
honoring the Cuban women in Havana, Cuba, last March 9th.
Some 31 mmembers of the Opponent Movement for a New Republic (MONR),
gave flowers to 20 women affiliated to the group last March
9th,conmemorating the International Women’s Day.
The celebration began at Street Santa Rosalia # 18406, in the Porvenir
neighborhood, at the Boyeros Municipality of Havana, Cuba, with a fluid
exchange distinguishing the importance of the women’s opposition
movement in this decade and the implications of their unique dissident
confrontation in a male dominated society.
José Diaz Silva, president of MONR, closed the activity stating that:
“This tribute is not just for women of the opposition, but for all Cuban
women who face the agonizing martyrdom of having to find food to feed
their families on a daily basis”
