More difficulties with the public transportation in the
Isle of Youth.
(ISLE OF YOUTH/CUBA/November
5/Puenteinfocubamiami.org)-
The problem with the public transportation in the Isle of Youth has
reached grave proportions, local government and the State owned
transportation company have no capacity to solve the failing system and
the lines at the bus stops are longer every day as citizens try to get
to their place of work or simply run an errand.
This panorama also extends to bus stops being used by State
transportation inspectors and the Public Transportation Dept, frequently
cancels routes without providing explanation to the citizens in the Isle
of Youth.
At the present time there are only 108 routes operating out of the 142
programmed, leaving about 3,000 citizens without daily public
transportation.
Information Bridge Cuba Miami confirmed only 12 public Buses working in
the area, they are over 15 years old and they have engine problems and
difficulties with spare parts.
Reported from the Isle of Youth for the
Information Bridge Cuba Miami and Net For Cuba International Carlos
Serpa Maceira, Independent journalist with the UPECI, also correspondent
of The Information Bridge Cuba Miami, given on the 3rd day of November
2004.
