Juan Carlos González Leyva
cited to appear before a Tribunal In Ciego de Ávila.
(CIEGO DE ÁVILA/CUBA/ November
3/Puenteinfocubamiami.org)-
The following is the transcribed testimony of Juan Carlos González
Leyva, President of the Cuban Human Rights Foundation as it was given to
Acción Democrática Cubana:
I received a citation to appear on November 4th, before the Tribunal
Judge Enrique Baro Claro, an Instruction Judge at the Municipal Tribunal
in Ciego De Ávila, at 10:00 in the morning whereby my cause can be
revoked and I could be sent back to prison.
The above mentioned Judge prohibited my traveling to Havana this past
November 2nd, for I was invited by Mr. Cason, Mission Director of the
U.S.Interest Section, the State Security is threatening us for the work
done by the Cuban Human Rights Foundation, make note that their citation
coincides with the date and time in which our Foundation's National
Secretary meets to analyze the work done and program the agenda for the
following month.
The Cuban Human Rights Foundation has prepared a bulletin denouncing the
Human rights violations in Cuba, of the Cuban dissidence in general, we
are working very hard denouncing publicly violations inside the prisons,
the beatings, cruel treatments, inhumane and degrading and also of the
latest wave of repression these past few days, like the
imprisonment of the Independent Worker in Camaguey Lázaro González Adán,
the trial of José Luis Martinez Rojas, as well as the imprisonment of
Vazquez Campechuela.
Last Friday, several members of the Cuba Human Rights Foundation were
detained, more were detained in the last few days, Francisco Javier
Marrero Ramírez was threatened with several years in The Jatibonico
Prison if he continues visiting my home and continues to associate with
our organization.
In Florida, Lázaro Iglesias Estrada, ten days away from finishing
serving his three year sentence, for a supposed crime of "contempt", was
taken to the State Security along with a group of 5 or 6 more opponents
where agents took their finger prints, a sample of their skin fluids,
and were undressed and threatened, they pointed out that such measures
were taken in the event they participated in any activity the police
deems dangerous, they would be arrested.
It is extremely important that the European Union, the Spanish
Government of Mr. Zapatero and the International Community turn their
eyes to Cuba, where no democratic changes have taken place and there is
an absolute immobilism, the repression and the hateful character of the
Cuban government is more severe every day and there is no intention
whatsoever to let go of the grip and solve the painful situation of the
penal population, nor stop the persecution against the peaceful
opposition.
