Prisoners of conscience "plantados" at the prison Kilo 5 ½ in Pinar del Río.

The following prisoners of conscience in the prison Kilo 5 ½ in Pinar del Río, José Daniel Ferrer, Arturo Pérez Alejo, Héctor Palacios Ruiz, Diosdado González Marrero, Leonel Grave de Peralta, Normado Hernández and José Ubaldo Izquierdo are "plantados" since November 13, 2003, reported to Acción Democrática Cubana family members of the prisoners and activists of the Christian Liberation Movement in Santiago de Cuba.

On November 13, 2003, family members of the prisoner of conscience José Daniel Ferrer were notified upon arriving at the prison for the family visit, that they would only be allowed to take a total of 30 pounds of provisions,included therein were articles of clothing, books and the much needed food and medical provisions.

Prison officials suspended the prisoner's visit for relatives protested the above measure, and immediately thereafter, forces of the State Security abused them physically in the presence of the prisoner's 6 years old daughter. Afterwards, they were detained and driven to a local police station in Pinar del Río.

The family remained detained for several hours and a lieutenant colonel serving in the capacity of Chief of Prisons in Pinar del Río threatened them as they were leaving the province.
