Communist Party
The Cuban nation has been under the current government rule since its rise
to power January 1, 1959.
At that time a one-party system was established that does not allow any
other political party with different views within the national territory.
The current Constitution was formally set in place in 1976, denoting the
Communist Party (P.C.C.) as the only directing political power, superior to
the society and the State and whose range encompasses the entire labor and
educational infraestructure of the country as well as the military.
The structure of the Communist Party can be summarized as follow:
1. A First Secretary General of the Central Committee;
2. A Second Secretary General of the Central Committee;
3. Members of the Central Committee, which includes Secretaries, Presidents
of the political organizations, etc.
Through the use of these base committees (split in such a way that a nuclei
of communist militia exists in each labor and school center throughout the
country with subordinate hierarchy to the Central Committee) the student
body and labor class is informed of the limits and guidelines expected of
them within their respective work and student positions and which they
should embrace without the slightest hesitation. The very Socialist
Constitution refers to its party and to the stemming organizations in the
following manner:
Article 5: The Communist Party of Cuba, martial and Marxist-Leninist,
organized vanguard of the Cuban nation, is the superior directing force of
the society and the State, that organizes and guides the common efforts
toward the high end of the construction of Socialism and the advance toward
the communist society.
Article 6: The Union of Communist Youth, the Cuban youths organization of
advanced has the recognition and the stimulation of the State in its
primordial function of promoting the active participation of the juvenile
masses in the task of the socialist construction and of preparing the youth
appropriately as conscientious and capable citizens of assuming
responsibilities every day adults in benefit of our society.
Article 7: The Cuban Socialist State recognizes and stimulates the
organization of masses and social which arise as a historical process of the
fights of our town that they huddle in its breast within the populations
different sectors, therefore representing its specific interests and they
incorporate them to the task of the construction, consolidation and defense
of the socialist society.
As demonstrated in its own Constitution, from the very same breast of the
Communist Party, is an offshoot of political organizations and they huddle
the whole of society in an all one. Due to their current validity and
importance, I will make mention of the main groups by their content under
title: "Political organizations" on the following charter. |
