HUMAN RIGHTS
The Right to Religious Freedom
Although for the past two years the anti-religious politics of the
government and the harassment of students who profess their faith has
decreased, serious limitations still exist as well as prohibitions in
activities such as: missionary work, evangelization beyond the confines
of churches or temples, entrance to the country of clergy, media access,
publication of books and periodicals, worship and the celebration of
mass in the prisons.
Until just a few years ago, youths were banned or expelled from
universities and technical learning centers simply for professing their
faith. Religious weddings were an extraordinary occurrence because they
could result in loss of employment.
